CRS Portsmouth Office supports Samaritans Awareness Month 2023

July 28, 2023

CRS recently held our summer charity day where we encourage employees from all Compass brands to take part in supporting The Samaritans, which saw us raise over £572!

CRS Summer Bake Off 2023

As part of our summer quarterly charity event, we opted to host a bake off for everyone to get involved in (either by baking or just eating), followed by a raffle that had prizes from local businesses or events up for grabs.

The bake off consisted of a selection of both sweet and savoury delicious treats. The winners were chosen by asking everyone taking part to cast their vote by selecting their top 3 bakes.

The top 3 bakes as voted for by Compass HQ were as follows:

  1. Cheese and Marmite Swirls – Matt Sheppard (Senior Principal Consultant, Compass Associates)
  2. Lemon Tiramisu – Katie Jones (Divisional Manager, Compass Associates)
  3. Biscoff Cake – Izzy Pearson (Digital Content Specialist, CRS)

The following raffle prizes were on offer:

  • Southsea Gallery Art
  • Portsmouth Gin Distillery Tour Voucher for 2
  • Dinner for 2 at Rapscallion, or the new Ripper and Co
  • Spray Tan Voucher
  • Wax Melt Lady Gift Bag
  • Full hair and Makeup Voucher Studio B Southsea
  • The Recovery Room Gift Voucher
  • Lano Yoga 30 Day Pass
  • 1 x Half Day Annual Leave
  • 1 x Full Day Annual Leave

All prizes were very popular choices with lots of additional tickets being bought. A special thanks to Jodie Kemp and the Business Support team for organising everything.

Why we chose to support The Samaritans

Mental health is something that affects all of us and therefore why we thought it was important to not only raise awareness of the vital support that The Samaritans provide.

July is Samaritans Awareness Month – and they will be running their awareness-raising campaign Talk to Us, to remind people that they are here for anyone who needs someone to listen.

Every 10 seconds, Samaritans responds to a call for help. They are available day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

Samaritans give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And they encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.

Talking about how we feel is so important and something we actively encourage here at CRS – a reminder that our Mental Health First Aiders are always available in the office and will make time to listen in a safe and confidential environment. Some of the CRS team spoke about their own mental health experiences recently, read this here.
